Reviewing Terri Blackstock’s Predator

In my opinion, the best books are those that seem to blend in perfectly with reality. While sci-fi and fantasy novels are entertaining, the ones that make you consider the world around you are often the most riveting.

In her newest book, Predator, Terri Blackstock captures this sense of reality in a chilling way. Predator reads like it was taken from the front pages of newspapers around the world.

While in college, Ryan Adkins decided to start GrapeVyne, a social networking site that would let people of all ages connect with each other and keep up with the social happenings to the world. This of course mirrors the real life popularity of sites such as FaceBook.

Much like its real world counterpart , GrapeVyne becomes part of life for many young people as it is constantly filled with status updates, pictures and events posted by its users.

However, the site eventually starts attracting online predators that use the site to stalk other people. When two girls are murdered and another attacked, Ryan’s dreams turn into a nightmare and he sets out to stop the killer.

Meanwhile, Krista Carmichael is reeling from the murder of her 14-year-old sister by an online predator. Desperate to bring him some justice, Krista creates her own profile to try and get his attention.

When the predator decides to come after her, Krista realizes that she may have gotten in over her head until she meets Ryan. The two team up in a attempt to stop the killer before he strikes again and again.

As anyone who watches the news or goes online regularly would know, this story is very similar to the current war that is being fought to protect people, especially kids, from online predators.

After reading this book, one will want to be thinking twice about what they put online, as the same thing could very well happen to them.

The book is enjoyable and very informative for both teens and adults it serves as a reminder that revealing personal info about yourself online isnt always a safe thing.

It is a great novel with a Christian touch when Krista begings to struggle with her faith and questions why God would allow such things to happen to someone.

If you are looking for a thrilling book to read, check out Predator by Terri Blackstock. It is an eye opening look into the dangers of posting personal info online and will keep you locked in throughout the entire novel.
